I’m so glad you enjoyed the article, Alyssa! Even with little ones, take a few minutes every day just for yourself. While they nap, or outside with them as they play keeping an eye on them but just enjoying nature for yourself. I used to give myself a few minutes just to stare out a window at a beautiful tree that gave me a little peace. And when they are being really exasperating, whisper a thank you to God. I remember saying, “I don’t know why to thank you for this moment, but I do.” Somehow it helped my perspective.

Wow. I am so glad I followed the link. I do not take 2 weeks of vacation in ANY year and I secretly feel like I am “stealing” time to do my little art and sewing projects. It is so true that we are always going, going, going. I am going to strive to do more silly things with my kids and less pressure and structure for myself. Thank you for this message.

how true! and what a great example of joy. Kids have such true happiness & delight in everything, its so fun to watch. On a side note: when did Siena grow up? She looks so big! Not a baby anymore

Great advice! I have had lots of opportunities to simplify, moving my whole life across the country and back several times, or even across oceans… but this time I’ll keep your words in mind and really think about what it is time to let go of, and what I should bring home. And good point too, it’s amazing how much more time you have when you turn off the tv.

What a precious granddaughter you have! That picture certainly exemplifies simple joy!

I remember you were crouched down with your camera and I told her to bring you a flower. She thought it was the funniest little task and giggled the whole way as she ran toward you. If only we could approach God’s tasks for us with the same delight!
